“The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delights in his way.” Psalms 37:23. Such seems to be the threads that have woven the fabric of the life, and ministry, of Pastor Willie C. Thompson, Jr.
Willie C. Thompson, Jr. is the founding Pastor of Eternal Life Ministries; a spirit-filled, bible-teaching church that ministers healing; hope; inspiration; and restoration to God’s people, in the City of Naugatuck, CT. Pastor Thompson’s long history of service to God has been rewarding.
Pastor Thompson, the youngest son of the late Willie C. Thompson, Sr. and Mother Ruby Lee Thompson, was born and raised in Hartford, CT where he attended the public schools and graduated from Weaver High School. His academic advancements earned him a scholarship at the University of Hartford, where he study Accounting. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the Army National Guard (ARNG). While enlisted in the ARNG, his ambition led him to attend Officer Candidate School in Fort Benning, Georgia, graduating as a 2nd lieutenant (2LT). Pastor Thompson continued his education by attaining an Associates in Electronics from Baron’s Institute of Technology.
After accepting Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in 1986 at Jackson Memorial Church of God In Christ International under the pastorate of the late Bishop R.G. Gatling, Sr., Pastor Thompson worked faithfully in the church, serving as a Deacon, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, and Vice-president of the Jackson Memorial choir. With a hunger for God's word and a desire to enhance his scriptural knowledge, he directed his study towards religion and received his Bachelors of Theology from the Williams Clemons Davis Bible Institute.
Pastor Willie Thompson acknowledged his call to the ministry in September of 1997, and was ordained as an Elder in July of 2004. As he continued to grow in God, he acquired an intense passion for souls. Having a desire to reach all mankind, he became a dedicated member of Jackson Memorial’s Prison Ministerial Team, serving from 1988 until his call to Pastor in 2011. In addition, Pastor Thompson served as State President of the Young People Willing Workers (YPWW) for the Central CT State Diocese. After marrying his God-given love, Pastor Thompson relocated to Waterbury and worked faithfully at Mt. Olive COGIC Int’l, under the leadership of Bishop Wilbert M. Chapman, Sr.
Pastor Thompson is not only a dedicated and compassionate servant of the Lord, who makes a conscious effort to live as an ambassador for Christ. He is a devoted, loving husband to his crowned jewel Gloria, and a caring father to his children - Rona, Willie, and Orlando, and five grandchildren. Having worked at Comcast since 1995, supervisors and colleagues alike refer to him as a dedicated worker, and an “inspiration and role model” to many.
Pastor Thompson fervently studies the Word of God. He loves the Lord, and is committed to ministering God's Word with wisdom, simplicity, and compassion. He is a humble and astute pastor, preacher and teacher who loves his congregation, and serves them faithfully. Having received his mandate from God, Pastor Thompson obediently fulfills his calling as Pastor of Eternal Life Ministries.
“To God be the glory for all the things He has done.”
